ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ayna Chan is a Hong Kong based artist whose expressionist abstract paintings unfold as emotional landscapes where nature, femininity, and introspection come together. Through bold brushstrokes and vibrant yet soft color palettes, she creates dreamlike visual experiences that reflect the layered identities of modern women. Her work moves beyond literal representation, focusing instead on inner emotions such as silence, resilience, vulnerability, and renewal. Each painting becomes a space for quiet contemplation, inviting viewers to connect with their own emotional states.

ABOUT THE PAINTING

TULIP STARRY THE SKYTulip Starry the Sky, the artwork series between 2025-26, a mixed media painting on canvas inspired by Ayna’s travels to Amsterdam, City which left a lasting emotional impression on her through two very different visits. Her first experience took place outside of flower season, when sandy landscapes and muted surroundings evoked a deep sense of solitude and stillness. In contrast, her second visit coincided with full bloom, surrounding her with vibrant colors and life. This contrast became a powerful metaphor for the rhythms of life. In the artwork, Ayna incorporates mixed media such as sand and acrylic paint to express this emotional journey. The sand introduces physical texture and grounding, while flowing layers of acrylic create movement and luminosity. Together, these materials communicate the idea that beauty often emerges through patience and time.Tulip Starry the Sky encourages viewers to cherish the present moment while remaining hopeful for what lies ahead. It reflects the belief that even in quiet or empty seasons, growth is already in motion beneath the surface.
